We were looking for a unique family weekend getaway and jumped on Air B&B to see what was within driving distance from Brisbane and stumbled across The Old Dairy at Cudgera Creek, Northern New South Wales.

Having never experienced a farm stay before, I was a little hesitant about what it would be like, would I like it, will Henry like it. From the moment we drove onto the property, I knew it would be amazing and a perfect spot to relax.

Where is The Old Dairy

Located only a 5 minute drive from the beach side town of Pottsville, you will leave the coastline for farm life.

We stopped in at Cabarita Beach on our way through and enjoyed some lunch at the surf club and some fun in the sand before stopping at the grocery store on our way to The Old Dairy.

Byron Bay is around a 25-30 minute drive south if you’re looking for a nice day trip. We stopped in there and had a great few hours!

About The Old Dairy

The owners of The Old Dairy restored and renovated it to its current form. You feel like you’re staying in the fanciest farm house there is. The original walls and posts have been preserved for character and all the creature comforts added in.

Waking up to the sounds of birds and fresh air is something we don’t get living in the city.

The space is one large open area comprising of the kitchen, dining, lounge and bedroom. There is a separate bathroom. It is suitable for a couple or a small family with up to 3 children.

The kitchen has everything you need for your stay, including a full size fridge/freezer, electric frypan, microwave, kettle, cutlery, condiments, tea and there is a BBQ outside as well.

The lounge room has a beautiful fireplace which is perfect especially on a winters afternoon.

The bedroom has a 4 poster queen size bed and also two single beds.

The bathroom is spectacular. The views from the oversized bath overlook the farm and it is really a place to unwind and relax.

In addition to the BBQ, the outside area has a really cool fire pit which is a perfect spot to relax with family or loved ones.

You can explore the farm in your own time and also join the owners for feeding time, which Henry really loved!
