Freedom Beach, Phuket – in Monsoon Season

This was our second visit to the beautiful Freedom Beach. The first time was in April, and it was a completely different experience from visiting in July, which is monsoon season.
Our first experience can be found here and is an excellent comparison of what to expect across the different months.

What to expect in July
It is Monsoon season in July, so you need to be prepared for potential rain, of course. But the most significant difference for us, which we weren’t expecting, was the rough ocean. This meant that instead of the picturesque, calm turquoise water, it was rough and quite choppy.
Take a look at our short video of our journey down and back up again.
Getting to Freedom Beach
Please take a look at our earlier post on visiting Freedom Beach. The only difference is that we had to pay a small fee (which included a complimentary bottle of water) to enter. But perhaps we just got there super early the first time!
You can pay an additional fee to be driven down, or you can walk down yourself, as we did.

Is it worth going in July?
Is it as beautiful as other months? No. But if you happen to be travelling in July, then it is still absolutely worth a trip to see Freedom Beach. I wouldn’t recommend it if it is raining – the walk up and down would get slippery and dangerous!
